If you’ve known me and my design experience, you would fully understand my love for color. Bringing in color to an interior takes agility, focus and a touch of bravery. Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced many interior designers in their purchasing decisions whether they follow or break the trends of these influences.

Give Your Room a Designer Touch on a Budget
Let’s talk about Art which should be a passionate collectible item, each selection should evoke an immediate emotion when you find just the right piece. There are different price points of course in which each of us can afford however I encourage each of you to collect pieces that are original. A great place to start is with local artists in your hometown. There are several markets and places to find art on a budget here in Santa Fe. I’m sure there is affordable art in your area. Also, try social media like Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest for local artists in your area.
The second Design trick is plants they add a dimension and warmth to any room in your home. Go down to your local farmers market and pick up a bundle of the latest in season flowers. If you prefer a low maintenance plant your in luck, succulents are just the perfect plant a beautiful structured look with minimal watering you cannot go wrong. Lastly there are those of us who are so busy and watering a plant results in a dried up twig my solution is a great artificial plants. As shown above they cool look just as vibrant and realistic as the real thing this particular one is available in my showroom in the El Dorado Hotel. When it comes to interior design, the devil is in the details.
As an Interior Designer I can attest to the fact that when designing any space in your home the details hold the key to success. These can be as simple as line, form, and shape and extend out further to the texture and color balance of each element. At times it’s the complexity of the whimsical reluctant sconces, or the balance between an antique mirror complimenting a custom carved vanity. Or the contrast of the rich earth toned travertine sink flanked by a subdued oil rubbed bronze faucet.

If you get to travel during the holidays, pick up keepsakes and treasures for your home to remind you of your wonderful travels.
If lucky enough we all travel through the years and it’s so nice to have a keepsake. If you’re anything like me a T shirt or the standard travel mug lacks the elegance of a keepsake. This caused my sister and I to look for something we could treasure over the years as well as reminisce in memories.
Ornaments are the solution to this dilemma; they add a story line that you can cherish and continually add to through the years. The excitement is overflowing each year as we carefully unwrap each with a bright smile. One by one they are lovingly placed as though a magic storm unleashed sparkling lights. Each distinct ornament combine to create the perfect Christmas Tree decorated with love and memories.
